12hrs of mesa Verde
What a great race! The night before however did not go so well. We made the trip down to Cortez Colorado on Friday night which went well. Once there we set up the bed in the van and settled in for the night. We were pleasantly surprised to run into a few friends who we had not seen in a while and had a great but short evening. Getting in bed by 8:30PM to rest up we were shocked when at 11PM Kalden...

Rabbit Valley Rally
Back from our first MTB race of the season and it was a wake up call! I felt pretty good lining up at the start of the race with 31 other cat.2 racers in my age group (30-39). The first few miles were on dirt roads so right off the start I was in the first 5 or so riders and drafting along feeling good. This went well until it kicked up hill. It was a series of punchy climbs that slowly wore...

Another great weekend
Jen, Kalden and I had another big weekend on the bikes. It’s great to have an “event” to focus on this year and train for. Friday evening as soon as we arrived Jen hit Amassa Back but had a bit of a crash on it. She came down a bit bruised and scraped up but ok. After another great night camping we woke up to clear skies and I finally did a ride I’d been looking at for 2...

GJ criterium
Made it out to Junction to race in the local crit series last night. On the drive there I was thinking to myself, I’m driving 2hrs each way for a 45 min. race! Oh well, it was well worth it. About 15 min into the race I took a flyer off the front and got a good gap, 2 other riders bridged to join me and we were off. We held it for 1 1/2 laps but then got caught by the field. I then paid...

GJ/Fruita in Spring
Just back from a weekend in Fruita and Junction. Started with a 4:30 AM Saturday departure from Ridgway to make it down to Junction for the COPMOBA bike swap. What a great event! Met lot’s of nice people and we sold off alot of old stuff that had accumulated over our 5 years in business. After that it was time to enjoy the sunny/70 degree temps here and we made out way over to Rustlers loop...

Getting in the miles
Jen and I have just finished back to back 3hr days on the MTB, this has been our biggest week so far on the bike this season. I tried a new route today heading out towards Playa Avellana then cutting in on a new dirt track that dumped me off between Playa Negra and Paraiso, from there I continued onto Playa Junquilla (another great little beach town). Once there I had seen on a map a possible dirt...

Liv'in the dream!
I gotta say we are for real! We’ve been here in Tamarindo for 2 weeks now and life is great! Jen and I have been getting great miles in on the mountain bike which was a huge priority for us and then getting out and surfing almost everyday. The past few day’s have been especially nice as Kalden has been coming out of his shell and really making friends. Last week we met a couple from...

Costa Rica
We are well into week 2 of our 5 week trip in Costa Rica and I wanted to post a few comments on a couple of things I brought from the shop. First off is the new Polar RS 800 CX watch This watch has performed great for me on this trip. It is the first one I’ve used on a MTB that does not vibrate and hurt my wrist. I’m using the GPS on it and uploading to Polar Pro Trainer software...

Maverick Bikes  →
As many of you know we are a Maverick bike dealer and huge fans (Jen and I both ride one). A friend of ours from Golden completed the Colorado trail end to end (500 miles) with a couple of buddies this summer all ridding Maverick bikes. Great story and sweet pic’s.

San Juan Huts winter
In addition to the summer San Juan Hut system which we guide they also have a series of ski huts right outside Ridgway. Jen and I decided to take Kalden on his first backcountry ski trip to the Burn Hut. It is about a 6 mile ski into this hut and it’s pretty much all up hill. The ski in took us about 4 hours and we made it just before the snow started dumping! The sled! The Burn Hut ...

Winter bike upgrades
Planning to hang onto you XC Full susupension rig next year but it needs some love? Fox’s new RP23 with boost valve is certainly a worthy item to look at. Christmas Spirit
Sitting in the house after a couple of glasses of wine tonight. We had our friends Mike and Cecily over for dinner and our Son had a sleep over at his buddy’s house. This morning started at 5AM when Kalden woke up and was ready to go at decorating the tree we pick up the night before. We were suppose to do it last night but he fell asleep on the way home from Montrose. Anyway, we kept him in...

Winter is here
Well, winter is Officially here (by my standards). This morning we woke up to -8F! Things are going well for the Christmas season at the shop and we just got in a new shipment on 2010 Rocky Mountain Element MTB’s. I’ve been hitting the rollers daily and today Jen earned the “hard core” award for getting out on the cross bike and ridding to Ouray and back. Studded tires were...

Florida
Were just back from our 3 week trip to Florida. Spent a week with my parent’s in Orlando, hit Disney World then spent a few weeks in Port St. Lucie with Jens parent’s. Kalden had a blast at Disney and once we got to Port St Lucie my road bike was waiting for us but Jens was lost! We were able to make the best of it though and we both got out for rides every day while there. I did a...

Breck Epic , it's on!
Well, Jen and I just officially signed up for Breck Epic 2010. We will be doing it as a Coed Duo team which means we both ride everyday and must enter each check point as well as  cross the finish line within 2 minutes of each other during the entire race. This will be the 2nd year for this event and our friend Vince did it last year. Vince came back super psyched about how the event was put on...

Florida
Well we’ve all been in Florida now for almost 3 weeks. We’ve been having a great time at Dinsney World with Kalden then onto Jen parent’s in Port St Lucie. Once there I found my bike waiting for me (we sent our bikes Fedex) but Jens is missing! It appears her bike is officially lost at this point. The bike was insured so no big deal there but the bummer is we’ve had to...
